Commercial Inspections

Commercial inspections involve a visual examination or readily objective visual examination of readily accessible areas, physical structure and operating systems of the space.

This process occurs in a timely and efficient manner, giving clients the peace of mind to continue on with business.

Environmental Testing

In today's world, consumers are more educated about the potential of harmful elements found in and around the places we live and work.

The BrickKicker offers a series of different testing services that can be ordered with your inspection.

Other Services We Specialize In

Radon Testing

Radon is a cancer-causing, radioactive gas. The Surgeon General has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, killing 21,000 people per year in the United States. You cannot see, smell or taste radon, however, when you breathe air containing radon, you increase your risk of getting lung cancer. Testing is the only way to find out your home’s radon levels. The EPA and the Surgeon General recommend testing all homes for radon. If you find that there are high levels, the home can be fixed. Even very high levels of radon can be reduced to acceptable levels.

Mold Sampling

Mold is a naturally occurring process that is present throughout the world. Some circumstances can provide adverse and potentially dangerous conditions to humans when certain species of molds are present in a home. Through professional sampling, the actual presence of mold can be determined and by what means would be necessary to treat the specimen found within the home.

Pest

Many homes across the country are subject to shared occupancy with pest, mainly for shelter but others may use the home as a food source. It is only through a thorough and professional pest inspection that one can be confident any unwanted visitors do not set up shop within the home. These tests and inspections are often provided as a specific service through an outside professional source and considered beyond the scope of the standard inspection or home inspection license.

Pool and Spa

For an additional fee, The BrickKicker inspector will help identify any potentially hazardous or mechanically deficient issues with your pool and/ or spa. This does not include entering the pool to look at the liner but we will inspect the barrier fence, installed pool equipment, and filter system. Recreation equipment is typically not included but may be upon request.

New Construction

Most “New Construction” homes have undergone a rigorous municipal or code compliance inspection process, likely at least four “code” inspections. The BrickKicker new construction inspection goes beyond that, looking at the home for not only the functionality of the systems but those cosmetic and unfinished items as well. A new construction inspection will assist you with your Punch List creation and interpretation, helping to ensure your home is perfect before taking ownership.

Builder Warranty

Many New Construction Builders provide their clients with a one year (11 month) warranty. After being in a home for 10 to 11 months a homeowner knows many of the “secrets”, but maybe not all of them. Much like the “New Construction” inspection, The BrickKicker warranty inspection will help create the “punch list.”

Home Maintenance Review

Most people make routine visits to their Doctors. Most people do not make routine reviews of their homes. A Home Maintenance Review is like an annual check up. The BrickKicker inspector is an expert at your home and will help you keep your investment in good shape. We have a unique perspective because we are there to sell products or services but only to help you keep your home in the best condition possible. This review will help you prioritise your maintenance and potentially prevent unnecessary or unforeseen expenditures.

Certified Inspections

FHA, VA and 203K are all types of loans which will require certain minimum standards be present before a loan is presented. Systems like: Heating, Plumbing, Electrical, Structural, Roof, Thermal and Weatherproofing all require certain standards be met. The BrickKicker inspector is certified to provide the necessary documents for each one of these. There is no reason to call for one, two or every three different contractors to provide these documents.

Roof Certifications

Some homes require a second set of certifications to qualify for a loan or insurance. A roof certification is one of them. Some roofs might have a complexity or design characteristic that will require a second opinion. This might also be for roofs or systems that are older or exhibit additional wear. The BrickKicker is an expert at providing the second opinion or certification on the condition of the roof and if necessary render a specific repair list rather than merely stating the roof needs to be replaced. Additional roof certifications, The BrickKicker can provide are: plumbing, electric, structure, weatherization, and HVAC.

“Honest communication is built on truth and integrity and upon respect of the one for the other” – Benjamin Mays.

I’ve always felt it is most important to conduct oneself with integrity and modesty, and let one’s actions and reputation speak for themselves. I believe hard work and trust is the best asset to bring to the table when entering a business transaction. Trust is based on one’s actions, character, reliability and truth. It’s a culmination of many small, consistent decisions over a period of time.

My core principles are supported by a solid educational foundation: High School (Episcopal School of Dallas, ESD), Under-graduate degree from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and a Master’s degree from Baylor University. Looking back, the structured process and discipline required has had as much impact as the theory presented in the books, both being instrumental in my career work.

With 20+ years spanning the experiences of self-employment in the small business environment to extensive corporate management with Fortune 50 companies (UPS and FedEx) and a Fortune 500 company (Lennox, an International HVAC manufacturer), where I was responsible for strategy, product enhancements and competitive analysis, I’ve become uniquely prepared to offer the service quality and professional attention my clients deserve.

To maintain a work/life balance, I have learned to work smart and proficiently to ensure quality time with our children, and offer support and guidance as they mature into contributing members of society. My volunteer efforts include contributions and participation in the Multiple Sclerosis bike rally in Plano, Texas (MS150), the Dallas Cup and to the City of Dallas for victim relief of major disasters and catastrophes.

Of course, together with my wife and children, all the above is energized by the faith we share with the spiritual community at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal church.

Great businesses are built by valuing and building trust with every transaction … delivering a level of service quality that captures the essence of who we are. In the end, this defines who I am, and WHY I do what I do.
