At $50-$250 a foot, replacing the main sewer line can be one of the most expensive items to repair on a home and may not be covered by your homeowner's insurance. Inspecting the main sewer line is not included in a standard home inspection in Georgia and, due to the cost of the sewer camera, most inspectors are not able to offer this service. A good candidate for a sewer scope is a home that is 20+ years old that has trees in the front yard and has a new cleanout cap. Learn More About The Brickkicker’s Sewer Line Inspections.
Some buyers may skip the home inspection when they purchase a new home because Georgia requires the builder to provide a one year warranty. Before that warranty runs out, we recommend having an 11-Month Warranty Inspection. The BrickKicker will perform a full inspection of the property and provide you with a detailed report that you can pass on to your builder before your warranty has expired.
While a traditional home inspection in Georgia is designed to look at the elements of an existing home a new construction inspection can go one step further. The BrickKicker inspectors are trained to also look at the quality of the construction and help you prepare the Contractor’s Punch-list. This is a list of items found in new construction which are incomplete, missing or completed in a less than quality manner. After all, “new” does not mean “perfect” when it comes to homes. Sewage waste from most Georgia homes is managed through centralized sewage treatment plants but approximately 25-37% of homes in Jackson, Oconee and Athens-Clarke counties use septic systems. Home septic systems are very common, and not just in rural areas. Septic systems require regular inspections, pumping and maintenance by a certified septic professional. The Brickkicker does not offer septic inspections but we are happy to give a referral to a qualified professional. Learn More About The BrickKicker’s Septic Services.
Homes built prior to 1980 may have products and components that relied upon asbestos fibers for strength, durability and fire retardancy. With today's love for remodeling projects, asbestos fibers have a chance to become airborne, which is why asbestos is now considered to be a health concern. The BrickKicker understands where and how the various building products containing asbestos were used and may offer sampling and lab services to determine if asbestos is present. Learn more about how The BrickKicker can help if asbestos is suspected to be present in a home.
