Meet Your BrickKicker Team
Franchise Owner / Inspector
The BrickKicker of Middle Tennessee was originally a Florida based Mold Inspection company named AQ-Tech Environmental Services, Inc. that was founded in 2010. Not long ago we decided to move the company north to Dickson in order to be closer to family. While we were making the move it became apparent that it was time to evolve into also performing home Inspections. About that same time we were introduced to The BrickKicker located in Naperville, IL.
Founded in 1989 The BrickKicker is one of the leaders in the Home Inspection industry. They are a wealth of knowledge and support. Teaming with them has made the transition to home inspections seamless and efficient.
Although The BrickKicker of Middle Tennessee was founded in 2014, it originally started in 2010.
Scott, a Certified Master Inspector, is a native of Nashville but moved away in 1985 when he went active duty in the US Army. After five years in the military he resigned and moved to Miami, FL.
In 2009 he became interested in the issues so many people were having with mold related problems in the extremely humid climate that South Florida has the majority of the year. As a result of his research he and his fiance, Becky W, decided to launch a mold inspection business dedicated to helping people understand whether they had a mold problem and what was the root cause of the issue.
Performing a mold inspection is similar to a home inspection in certain ways. It's more thorough in some areas, and not in others. We never inspected the electrical system as part of a mold inspection, but we sure scoured a bunch of crawlspaces and walked a ton of roofs looking for likely sources of moisture intrusion.

Radon is a cancer-causing, radioactive gas. The Surgeon General has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, killing 21,000 people per year in the United States. You cannot see, smell or taste radon, however, when you breathe air containing radon, you increase your risk of getting lung cancer. Testing is the only way to find out your home’s radon levels. The EPA and the Surgeon General recommend testing all homes for radon. If you find that there are high levels, the home can be fixed. Even very high levels of radon can be reduced to acceptable levels.
Mold is a naturally occurring process that is present throughout the world. Some circumstances can provide adverse and potentially dangerous conditions to humans when certain species of molds are present in a home. Through professional sampling, the actual presence of mold can be determined and by what means would be necessary to treat the specimen found within the home.
Homes without municipal sewers or water supplies typically have to have their own source service. If there is a well it can either be a deep or shallow style. If there is a septic system several types of systems can be employed. The BrickKicker has the knowledge and ability to assist you with your well and septic questions and needs.
Thermal imaging or the use of infrared cameras has become a very widely accepted practice of home inspectors. It is yet another tool to allow The BrickKicker to help you purchase your home intelligently. The thermal camera can help identify thermal openings in your home, possible plumbing leaks in the walls, potentially damaging cracks leaks in the foundation or even issues under low sloped or flat roofs. Unlike many of our competitors, we do not charge extra for using the tools that we have on hand. IR thermography is included with every home inspection.
FHA, VA and 203K are all types of loans which will require certain minimum standards be present before a loan is presented. Systems like: Heating, Plumbing, Electrical, Structural, Roof, Thermal and Weatherproofing all require certain standards be met. The BrickKicker inspector is certified to provide the necessary documents for each one of these. There is no reason to call for one, two or every three different contractors to provide these documents.
Pre-Listing inspections are a great exercise for sellers to get ahead of any potential surprises that may come up when the buyers of the home have their own independent inspection. Although very similar to a buyers inspection, a pre-listing inspection will help you put a priority list together so you can sell your home without having to sweat the small stuff.
